“Two Silly Geese for Sartre”
To see Sartre’s play, he paid with two geese
He thought it would make his nausea cease
Alas, 'twas in bad faith!
The world became a wraith
Gone were his silly geese and soul’s peace.
“The Goose Named Moose”
There once was a goose named Moose
Who carried on her back small papoose
When her gosling would squawk
She would continue to walk
With nary a care her baby would get loose.
“The Horse of Absolute Agreement”
The horse of absolute agreement
Shook his head ‘cause it was convenient;
But everyone thought
That “Neigh!” he besought
Was a new act of disagreement.
“The Duck”
There once was a duck who clucked,
Which caused all the chickens to run amuck,
It caused such a stir
That the farmers conferred
And decided to flee in a truck.
“The Tiny Tale of the Ginormous, Gargantuan, Glum Human Square”
I know a miserable man of ten feet, in length and in width.
I can assure you, he is no myth.
He is shaped like a fleshy, enormous square,
And possesses a singular strand of white hair.
Every night, the square-man drowns his sorrows in absinthe.
“Goose from Bangkok”
There once was a goose from Bangkok
Who lost his favorite pair of socks
In vain he tried to
Find them in his stew
Alas, they were lost in the pot.
“Empty Nest”
An empty goose nest once occupied
Stood on the shore’s edge; the ebb of tide
Embraced it calmly,
Swallowed to sea and
Dark, where its fallen angels abide.
“Little Duckling”
A little duckling who knows me
Every day, it’s him that I see
He waddles and walks
But will always balk
At the very sight of a bee.
“From an Old Maple Tree”
There was a lucky family
Who lived in an old maple tree
Every hour they’d look
And see a babbling brook
With fish, ducks, and oh! Of course — geese.
“Flying Goose?”
When the goose tried fluttering his wings
He managed to fly high like the kings.
But balance he lacked
To land he fell back
He lay there intact with all his limbs.
“Song of Spring”
Every duck and goose loves to sing
Don’t you know? It’s their favorite thing
Their music divine
And songs all sublime
And guess what — it’s the song of spring.
