It’s a new school year, and you know what that means... a new student council. This year’s elections brought forth president Bardia Ahanin, vice president Julian Murchison, and secretary Alberto Balbuena, with a campaign mainly focused on school spirit. Now, it can certainly feel like we don’t really know what goes on once we cast our votes, hence, the ROAR decided to take initiative and briefly interview our student body’s president, Bardia, to hopefully get a little look behind the scenes.

Q1: So what’s crackalackin?
What’s crackalackin is that it’s currently October. There’s a lot of work that needs to be
done, both with the Student Council and also with our academics. But we’ll get it done.
Q2: Okay! What’s your next move?
So for now, what we’ve done... Well, the first thing was that we wanted to get female
hygiene products in the girls’ bathrooms, and the day that we realized we got elected, we reached out to Mme. Chust about it, and we were told that there’s progress that’s going to be made. They just have to have a meeting with M. Petauton and Mme Kabbaz to set it up. And after that, there’s Halloween coming up. So we’re setting up the booths, the games, and we got a lot of fun games that are coming. There’s also going to be the haunted house again. So, there’s a lot to look forward to!
Q3: Great. So where are we at with school spirit at the moment, in your opinion?
I’d say it’s going very well. I feel like the biggest progress was the fact that we’ve brought the mascot, and I think that was really good. And the mascot was just our first big step into having school spirit. Obviously, we have more on the way with the turf that we’re going to be displaying downstairs on the second floor. But yeah, the mascot was just the beginning, and
there’s a lot coming soon.
Q4: What has been the most important challenge you’ve faced thus far?
I’d say my most important challenge—for all three of us actually—I’d definitely say it has to be managing both the Student Council and our work, because we’re all in the BFI, and having to handle both that and having to do the Student Council meetings... It has definitely been a challenge. And besides that, we’d also say scheduling because there’s a lot of stuff that we want to do, and we have to have a specific schedule to get it all done. Because we all have a lot of goals, and we have a lot of plans in different aspects of the school, it’s all been a challenge, but we’re trying to figure it out as time goes on.
Q5: Alright. Lastly, is there anything you want the student body to know right now?
We are getting stuff done regularly and there will be stuff getting done in the future.
